Youth injured in collision with police vehicle

DEMOW, Sept 2: On Saturday night, Akash Gogoi, a youth from Duponi, was involved in a head-on collision with a vehicle belonging to the Nitaipukhuri Police Outpost in Sukanpukhuri near Demow. Following the collision, Gogoi fell and was injured. According to information received, it is alleged that after the accident, there was a quarrel and fight between the driver of the Nitaipukhuri Police Outpost and the injured Akash Gogoi, resulting in both parties sustaining serious injuries. Subsequently, Partha Chutia, IC of Nitaipukhuri Police Outpost, arrived at the scene.

It is alleged that the Nitaipukhuri police team harshly punished the injured Gogoi before transporting him to Demow Model Hospital. After receiving primary treatment there, he was transferred to Joysagar Civil Hospital and later referred to Dibrugarh for further treatment. 

The aunt of Akash Gogoi claimed that her nephew, while returning from Demow to his residence on Saturday night, was involved in the collision with the police vehicle. She alleged that instead of assisting Gogoi, the Nitaipukhuri police team severely beat him, resulting in injuries to his teeth, face, and eyes. She also claimed that Partha Chutia, IC of Nitaipukhuri Police Outpost, participated in the assault. Meanwhile, there are reports that the youth also attacked the police, according to sources.
