June 20, Thursday: In a significant development in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, US-based Zemetric, a leading provider of EV charging solutions, has acquired EvyEnergy, a startup backed by IIT Guwahati. Co-founded by Tushar Bohra, Mohit Jain, and Bhabani Mohapatra from IIT Guwahati’s B.Tech batch of 2022, EvyEnergy began as a dorm room startup in 2021 and has since evolved into a key player in India’s burgeoning eMobility landscape.
EvyEnergy offers a comprehensive software platform designed for public, fleet, and destination charging with seamless payment options. The platform’s features include a mobile application for drivers to locate and initiate charging at stations, as well as a central management software that allows charging network companies to monitor and operate their stations in real-time. With nearly 3,000 charging ports on its ChargeConnect platform and mobile app, EvyEnergy has become a preferred choice for charging point operators and mobility providers.
Harmeet Singh, founder-CEO of Zemetric, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome EvyEnergy into the Zemetric family. Their expertise aligns with our goal to accelerate the transition to clean transportation and expands our footprint in an enormous market primed for growth.”
Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, praised the startup’s founders and their innovative venture. “We are immensely proud of the achievements of Tushar, Mohit, and Bhabani. The success of EvyEnergy underscores our commitment to equipping our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive technological advancements and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Tushar Bohra, reflecting on his experience, expressed gratitude for the support received from IIT Guwahati and emphasized their commitment to giving back to their alma mater.
The acquisition positions Zemetric to tap into India’s rapidly expanding EV market, integrating EvyEnergy’s proven software talent and innovative solutions to enhance its offerings in the clean transportation sector.
