GUWAHATI, Feb 2: Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota chaired a high-level monthly meeting with senior secretaries and concerned officials, highlighting the need for all departments to align their work with directives issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 4th National Chief Secretaries Conference held in New Delhi last December, a press release said on Sunday.
Additional Chief Secretary B. Kalyan Chakravarty provided detailed insights into the key takeaways from that conference, setting the tone for a comprehensive review of the state’s developmental priorities.
During the meeting, participants focused on measures to expedite progress across the state’s 39 Co-Districts, paying special attention to decisions taken at Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s review sessions in Jonai and Naharkatia.
Meanwhile, senior secretaries were instructed to address any gaps, ensure continuous monitoring of projects, and implement corrective measures as necessary.
The Barak Valley Development Department was highlighted as a priority, with all departments required to submit comprehensive reports on the status of ongoing schemes.
The meeting also called for drafting a Standard Operating Procedure for the effective management of the department’s executive business, alongside the accelerated implementation of e-Office systems for improved digital governance.
In addition, the government is pushing to enhance online transparency through the E-Prastuti initiative, with the Principal Secretary (IT) directed to oversee the maintenance and standardization of 209 departmental websites.
Meanwhile, departments were reminded of the upcoming Assembly Budget Session, with senior officials urged to ensure proper preparation of all bills and acts.
The meeting closed with a strong emphasis on timely submission of utilization certificates (UCs) and optimal use of the remaining capital expenditure budget.
Chief Secretary Kota further emphasized that all departments must coordinate to finalize proposed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for Advantage Assam and expedite the disposal of pending cases, ensuring the state remains on track to meet its fiscal and administrative targets.
