The gathering was a result of calls by farmers’ unions and khap panchayats for a march towards the Khanauri border. In anticipation, Hisar police deployed a large force with support from paramilitary units to maintain peace.

The situation escalated when police fired tear gas and detained farmer leaders, leading to stone-pelting by the farmers. Abhimanu Kohard, President of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Naujwan), mourned the death of a farmer during the clashes.

He accused undercover police of inciting the farmers and compared the Haryana Police’s actions to those of General Dyer.
