Arms recovered in Manipur

GUWAHATI, May 20: The Indian Army has recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Gwaltabi village in Imphal East district in Manipur.

Acting on specific information, a team of Army personnel in collaboration with the Manipur police conducted a joint operation at the Gwaltabi village.

During the raid, they recovered a substantive amount of explosives comprising of one improvised long range mortar (Pompi), one 303 rifle, two 12-bore guns, two hand grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores.

The recoveries have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal.

The security forces remain vigilant and committed to an early restoration of peace and harmony in the Manipur.
