Guwahati, May 8: On May 7, 2024, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya successfully intercepted illegal smuggling attempts along the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya. The seized goods, including cattle, sugar, and cosmetics, were valued at over Rs 15 Lakhs.
The illegal items were confiscated as they were being smuggled into Bangladesh via Meghalaya’s International border. Acting on specific intelligence, BSF troops from 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya seized a large quantity of cosmetics in the East Khasi Hills district.
These items were then handed over to the relevant customs office for further legal proceedings. In a separate operation, 193 Bn BSF troops rescued eight cattle near BOP Dulainala that were being smuggled into Bangladesh.
Additionally, 200 Bn BSF troops, in cooperation with Meghalaya police, seized a significant amount of sugar stashed in an abandoned house near the South Garo Hills’ International border. The confiscated sugar has been turned over to Rongra Police Station for further action.
