Manipur Police arrest 7 KCP cadres; firearms, vehicles recovered

GUWAHATI, Oct 15: In a significant crackdown on insurgency-related activities, the Manipur Police, in collaboration with security forces, have arrested seven active cadres of the KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) group, the state police officials informed on Tuesday.

As per reports, the police conducted search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts in the Langol Game Village Zone III area under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West District.

The arrested individuals, identified as Loushambam Alin Singh (26 years), Konsam Rohit Singh (23 years), Sanju Wahengbam (20 years) alias Lemba, Phanjoubam Thoiba Mangang (26 years) alias Malemnganba, Waikhom Hero Meetei (21 years), Yanglem Bikash Meitei (23 years) alias Amujao, and Henthoibi Moirangthem (41 years) alias Chan were reportedly involved in extortion activities and issuing threats to the general public in and around the Imphal area.

During the operation, police recovered a Toyota Fortuner (white) and five number plates, a Hyundai Grand i10 (white), a Royal Enfield Classic 350 (brown), two pistols: one loaded with two live rounds and another with an empty magazine, mobile phones and other incriminating articles, including camouflage uniforms and gear.

Investigations are underway to uncover further details of the group’s activities and their involvement in extortion networks.
