DEMOW, July 13: Minakhi Chetia, an ASHA worker at the Bhimpuwa Health Sub-Centre under Demow Block Primary Health Centre, is carrying out her duties diligently despite facing various obstacles. Working as an ASHA worker in Nabil Gaon, Minakhi Chetia has been providing essential medicines and ORS to the people in her assigned areas. However, her work is not without challenges.

Minakhi Chetia shared her experience to this correspondent, highlighting the difficulties she faces while performing her duties. She has to traverse muddy and waterlogged paths on foot due to poor road conditions. Despite these obstacles, she remains dedicated to her work, even taking pregnant women to the hospital on Thursdays. Minakhi Chetia’s commitment and hard work have gained recognition on social media, where photos of her on her way to work have garnered praise from the public.

ASHA workers like Minakhi Chetia face additional challenges due to their low remuneration, which makes it difficult for them to support their families. Recognising this issue, Minakhi Chetia has appealed to the state government to increase the remuneration of ASHA workers.
