NFR Official Killed In Road Accident

GUWAHATI, Aug 17: In a heart-wrenching incident, a senior official from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) lost his life in a fatal road accident in Assam’s Morigaon district on Thursday. Anand Swarup, the chief engineer of NFR’s Maligaon unit, tragically passed away at the scene, while his driver sustained critical injuries, as reported by the authorities.

The unfortunate mishap occurred when the SUV he was traveling in skidded and lost control, ultimately colliding with a stationary truck near Jagiroad town, according to a police spokesperson. Swarup was en route from the NFR headquarters in Guwahati to Dimapur in Nagaland at the time of the accident.

The injured driver is presently receiving medical treatment in a hospital, as stated by the officer. The entire NFR community mourns the loss of Anand Swarup and extends heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. (With inputs from PTI)
