NAGAON, June 6: A fortnight-long hockey coaching camp is underway at Barhampur Swahid Srimtee Adarsh Higher Secondary School on the school playground starting from Thursday.
The camp is organised by the school authority in association with Assam Hockey. Tapan Kr Das, the general secretary of Nagaon Sports Association as well as the general secretary of Assam Hockey, inaugurated the camp by lighting the earthen lamp at the playground on Thursday.
The inaugural session was mentored by physical instructor and yoga guru Prabhat Ch Bora. Mohan Bora, the state executive of Assam Hockey, Devahuti Mahanta, the principal of the school, Dipak Bora, Mantu Mahanta, and Padum Baruah attended the program as special guests.
Noted hockey coach Sivanand Mauze will lead the participants during the days of the camp. It is reported that all necessary equipment including playing sticks, balls, guards, pads, and goal posts have been provided by Assam Hockey for the camp, as asserted in a press note here.
