KOKRAJHAR, Oct 9: State cabinet minister for Handloom and Textiles, Sericulture, Soil Conservation, Welfare of the Bodoland Development Department, and guardian minister of Kokrajhar district, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, along with MLA Lawrence Islary and Kokrajhar district commissioner, Masanda Magdalin Pertin, ceremonially distributed financial aid to 112 Durga Puja committees under Kokrajhar sadar subdivision at a programme held at the Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday amidst large participation.
Notably, a total of 212 Puja committees in the three subdivisions of the entire Kokrajhar district, including 112 in Kokrajhar, 31 in Parbatjhora, and 69 in Gossaigaon subdivision, have received the financial aid sponsored by the government of Assam.
The cheque of Rs 10,000 was formally handed over to the president or secretary of the community Puja organisers.
Minister Brahma stated that the financial aid was initiated by the government of Assam to extend support to Durga Puja organisers across the state. He wished for peaceful and smooth celebrations of the festive Durga Puja.
“It is a pleasure to fulfil the promise made by the HCM, Himanta Biswa Sarma. I had the privilege of distributing cheques to the beneficiaries of the Durga Puja committees in Kokrajhar district,” Brahma said.
