Assam: Promotional van for govt agriculture schemes flagged off

JAGIROAD, Dec 6: The additional district commissioner (agriculture), Morigaon, Anusua Sharma, on Friday flagged off the promotional van of the government scheme implemented under the Agriculture Department. The program included an awareness meeting on the departmental schemes in the presence of farmers at the auditorium of the District Agriculture Officer’s Office, Morigaon. The meeting was chaired by district agriculture officer Ashok Kumar Sharma.

The meeting also discussed the successful implementation and expansion of the Pradhan Mantri Krishak Sanman Nidhi and created awareness. The district agriculture officer urged farmers to take advantage of the departmental schemes. 

As part of the function, Padmeswar Nath, an entrepreneurial farmer under Mayang Krishi Chakra, received micro-irrigation insecticides under the horticultural crop scheme. Two farmers received horticultural insecticides, 10 women farmers of the Yangli Krishak Producer Company received manure beds, and several farmers were provided with mulching and green nets. Additionally, potato seeds were officially distributed to women of the Prahelika Krishak Group under the National Agriculture Development Plan 2024-25, and soil health certificates were issued to four farmers. 

The event was chaired by deputy inspector of agriculture Dibyajyoti Hazarika and attended by sub-divisional agriculture officers, senior agricultural development officers, agricultural development officers, and other concerned officers and employees. Officials from SBI General Insurance Company were also present at the event.
