The event will conclude on February 19. This year’s festival promises a vibrant showcase of tradition, art, and unity, with the Governor of Chhattisgarh Romen Deka slated to attend as the Special Guest on February 16.

The KYF is organised annually by the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS).

Governor Deka’s participation highlights the festival’s significance in promoting cross-cultural dialogue and preserving the heritage of the Karbi community. Known for its grandeur, the event attracts thousands of visitors annually, featuring traditional dance, music, indigenous sports, handicraft exhibitions, and culinary delights.

Organisers emphasised this year’s focus would be on youth engagement and environmental sustainability, with workshops and competitions aimed at fostering cultural pride among the young generation.

Held in Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso, Karbi Anglong, Assam near Diphu, the festival also serves as a platform for local artisans and performers, boosting regional tourism and economy. Attendees can expect five days of immersive experiences in folk music and dance, ethnic and contemporary food culminating in a grand cultural parade on the closing day.

As preparations enter their final stages, anticipation grows for a celebration that bridges heritage and modernity, reaffirming the festival’s role as a cornerstone of Northeast India’s cultural tapestry.
