GUWAHATI, June 25: A blood donation camp was organised on Wednesday at the 37th Battalion premises of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Mangaldai, in a collaborative effort between Sector Headquarters SSB Bezpara, 37th Battalion SSB Mangaldai, and the District Hospital, Mangaldai.
According to an official statement, the event began with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by Amit Tiwari, Second-in-Command (Officiating Commandant) of the 37th Battalion SSB Mangaldai, alongside Dr Utpal Barua, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Mangaldai, and Dr Dawood Ali, In-charge of the Blood Centre at the hospital.
The dignitaries were welcomed with traditional Assamese phulam gamusas, symbolising honour and respect.
The event saw active participation from 21 jawans of Sector Headquarters SSB Bezpara and the 37th Battalion SSB Mangaldai, including senior officers such as Parag Chaturvedhi, Officiating Deputy Inspector General and Commandant of Sector Headquarters SSB Bezpara.
The medical team from the 37th Battalion, comprising Dr. Himanshu Dabas, Deputy Commandant (Medical), and Dr Savita, Assistant Commandant (Medical Officer), also played a key role in supporting the camp.
The blood donation drive aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation among security personnel while strengthening cooperation between the paramilitary force and the district health department.
The organisers emphasised that such initiatives not only help address blood shortages in local hospitals but also foster a spirit of service among the personnel.
Officials noted that the camp reflected SSB’s commitment to humanitarian service beyond its mandated duties, contributing to public welfare and emergency preparedness through voluntary efforts.
The event concluded with words of appreciation from both the SSB leadership and hospital authorities, who commended the jawans for their contribution to the noble cause of saving lives.
