GUWAHATI, Sept 5: “Teachers play an important role in shaping the future of the students as well as in building their character,” said Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on his visit to Assam Jatiya Bidyalaya at Noonmati on Monday.
Addressing the students and teachers on the auspicious occasion of Teachers’ Day, the Governor said, “Teachers’ Day is celebrated to show our gratitude towards our teachers. The contribution of teachers in building the nation is commendable. Today is a very important day for the Guru and the disciple. The ‘Guru-Shishya’ tradition is an important and sacred part of Indian culture. Guru has a special place in the life of every human being. It is the Guru, who makes a person a true human being. Building a child’s personality is a very vast and difficult task which is taken care of by a Guru only.”
Prof Mukhi also said, “An ideal teacher has a special place in the society. Our former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan whose birthday is celebrated as the Teachers’ Day was a great philosopher and also an ideal teacher. He had a deep love for teaching. He had all the qualities of an ideal teacher.”
The Governor also stated that it is a matter of happiness that under the ‘New Education Policy’, extensive changes have been made in the education system from school education to university level. With the cooperation and support of the people, the ‘New Education Policy’ is being fully implemented. He also said that Assam Jatiya Bidyalaya will also be able to adopt the new education policy and will always strive towards making its children “resourceful citizens”.
The Governor thanked the teachers for their immense role which helped in shaping the future generations and also urged upon them to illuminate the society with the light of knowledge with new enthusiasm and energy.
Noted educationist Dr.Tarakeshwar Choudhury, guest teacher also spoke on the occasion.
Secretary AJB Dr. Narayan Sharma, president AJB Dilip Kumar Choudhury, principal AJB Ghanshyam Medhi, teachers and students were also present on the occasion.
Our Haflong correspondent adds: The 61st Teachers’ Day in Dima Hasao was centrally celebrated at District Library Auditorium, Haflong on Monday. Ranu Langthasa attended the function as the chief guest while other special guests present during the occasion were executive members Lalremsiama Darnei, Bijit Langthasa, Dima Hasao deputy commissioner Nazreen Ahmed, ACS.
After the formal inauguration of the programme, lighting of lamp and garlanding the portrait of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was done. Welcome speech was delivered by the Inspector of Schools, Gayatri Naiding. Addressing the audience, the speaker praised the teaching fraternity about their contribution towards the upliftment of the society.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Nazreen Ahmed briefed about the significance of the day, she said teachers are the nation builders. She briefed about the importance and purpose of Teachers’ Day celebration as a nationwide programme.
EM Bijit Langthasa in his speech spoke about the approach of education and system in the present age. Highly speaking about the importance of an honest, disciplined and dedicated teachers and their role, he said with the change of time teachers should also adopt new techniques in order to encourage and motivate the students to perform better in their classes. Referring to the district wise performance of the HSLC and HSSLC, EM Langthasa dedicated the achievement to the teaching fraternity and also urged the teachers to help maintain the top position in years to come.
Addressing the audience, EM Lalremsiama Darnei shared how the people in the interior villages in this district are gradually giving priority to educating their children. While he spoke about the Educative Mission jointly organised by the council and the education department, he said under the initiative of CEM Debolal Gorlosa the team has been visiting villages under all constituencies with a motive to interact with the school managing committee, gaon buras, teachers, parents and villagers in order to understand the issues and address them to solve for the interest of the students and thus the education scenario in the district.
The programme saw paying of condolence to those departed souls of teachers who passed away in the current year. Certificate of appreciation was given to recently retired teachers of LP and ME schools. Distribution of certificates to the best performing teachers in the district was also done. The award for the best in service teacher was given to assistant teacher Biswajit Paul from Garampani Govt. High School, Assamese language teacher Dilip Hazarika from Digandu High School and vocational teacher Monalisa Nunisa from Maibang Higher Secondary School.
A drama was presented by students after the end of the meeting which was well appreciated by the people present. The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Bojendra Waibra, district primary education officer.
Our Sivasagar correspondent adds: The 61st Teachers’ Day was observed through a function in Sivasagar Yuva Dal Auditorium on Monday where 36 teachers from primary and secondary schools were felicitated.
Addressing the teachers, Dr. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, vice chancellor of Birangana Sati Sadhani University, Golaghat, said that the teachers must prepare themselves for a paradigm shift in the educational system. He spoke at length on the new structural changes and also on the added responsibilities of a teacher. DC Sivasagar Aditya Vikram Yadav IAS, presided over the meeting and paid homage to the great educationists of India and also to his teachers for guiding him through his early life. Subhom Guwala, DDC, Sivasagar said that it was for his teachers’ invaluable guidance that he has been able to become a responsible government officer.
Retired teacher Rajen Sharma was felicitated as ‘Sikshak Mahiyan’ for his dedicated service to society by Dr Jyoti Prasad Saikia. Two teachers from the district, Amarjyoti Borthakur, and Manmohan Nath received felicitation from the State Government in Guwahati.
As Kamaljyoti Gogoi, the Inspector of Schools announced that the Sivasagar district achieved the best district award among all the districts in the Gunotsav 2022, it received thunderous applause from the teachers and other guests present in the meeting.
Our Nagaon correspondent adds: Along with the rest of the country, Rashtriya Shikshak Divas Udyapan Samiti, Nagaon also celebrated the 61st Teachers’ Day centrally here at the auditorium of Nagaon Govt Boys’ HS School today.
Amalendu Chakraborty, vice chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai graced the open session as the chief guest while Mridul Kr Nath, Inspector of schools, Nagaon delivered the welcome address. Additional deputy commissioner Prasanta Boruah, deputy inspector of schools, Nagaon Deben Ch Lahkar, Dipika Laskar, principal of Nagaon Govt Boys’ HS School attended the programme as invitees and spoke on the occasion. During the programme, successful achievement teachers’ awards were presented ceremonially to 10 prominent teachers of the district.
Those who were conferred with the achievement teachers awards, they are Ripunjita Saikia, Hiramoni Boruah, Anuprabha Kunwar, Manik Ch Nath, Ajit Ch Bora, Jitamoni Sarma, Diganta Bora, Keshav Ch Bora, Pravakar Saikia and Mojibur Rahman.
Meanwhile, on occasion of the day, the members of Nagaon Lions Club also felicitated two octogenarian teachers at their respective residences in the town. The club members containing of Lalchand Agarwal, president of the club, general secretary Saranga Ballabh Goswami, Susanta Borthakur, Biswajit Mahanta and other visited the residences of Naramai Bora, a retired teacher of Nagaon Mahendra Boruah Primary School and the retired college teacher Dr Jyotirmoy Jana respectively and felicitated them with phulam gamosa, a felicitation letter, a memento and a tub with plant each.
It is worth mentioning that professor Dr Jyotirmoy Jana retired from Nagaon Girls’ College in 2013 while Naramai Bora retired from Nagaon Mahendra Boruah Primary School in 1993, a release added.
Our Demow correspondent adds: The 61st Teachers’ Day was celebrated in the educational institutions of Demow and its surrounding areas on Monday with a day-long programme. The programme started with the ceremonial lamp lighting before Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan ‘s portrait in various Schools and Colleges of Demow and its surrounding areas on Monday. Teachers spoke about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and encouraged the students to follow his footsteps.
On the occasion of Teacher’ Day, a cake cutting ceremony was also organised in the educational institutions in Demow and its surrounding areas on Monday. The students gifted pens, along with other gifts to their teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Monday. Cultural programmes were also organised in the educational institutions of Demow and its surrounding areas where the students sang songs and performed dances on Monday.
