NAMSAI, June 20: As part of Arunachal Pradesh government’s ongoing efforts to bolster technical education and institutional resilience, Mohesh Chai, Advisor to the Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, visited the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Balinong in Changlang district on Friday.
Chai was accompanied by Secretary Bullo Mamu and Director Sibo Passing from the Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (SDE) department.
The delegation conducted a comprehensive on-ground assessment of the institute’s infrastructure, training modules, and operational challenges.
The team inspected training workshops, classrooms, and hostel facilities, and held interactive sessions with trainee students and instructors to evaluate the effectiveness of vocational training and employment linkage efforts.
During the visit, officials also assessed the extensive damage caused by recent floods triggered by the overflowing Buri Dihing River.
The Boys’ Hostel had to be vacated, while key infrastructure including three Type II quarters, a Bachelor Barrack, and the institute’s water tank were completely washed away.
In light of the destruction, Dr. Chai underlined the urgent need for both immediate restoration and long-term infrastructure resilience planning to ensure uninterrupted technical education and the safety of staff and students.
He stressed the importance of aligning vocational courses with local industry demands and strengthening academic-to-employment linkages.
Chai also encouraged instructors to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking among trainees, motivating them to become job creators rather than job seekers.
He further emphasized the need for a robust database to track post-training employment outcomes.
Secretary Bullo Mamu addressed the faculty, highlighting priorities such as curriculum modernization, promotion of digital literacy, and fostering institution-industry partnerships. She called for strategic collaborations with regional employers to improve placement prospects for graduates.
Director Sibo Passing reviewed trade-wise enrolment trends, instructor deployment, and the urgent need for upgraded workshop equipment, particularly in high-demand sectors.
The visit reaffirmed the Department’s vision for an inclusive and industry-aligned skill ecosystem, while underlining the significance of resilient infrastructure, forward-looking training, and entrepreneurial empowerment in contributing to the region’s socio-economic growth.
