AASU felicitates 800 students at Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Oct 17: Over 800 meritorious students of Sivasagar district who performed well in the last HSLC and HSSLC examinations were felicitated with citations and books by Sivasagar District Students’ Union (SDSU) in a function held in Sivasagar Girls’ College Auditorium.
The function, presided over by the president of SDSU Manob Hazarika, was inaugurated by DC Sivasagar Aditya Bikram Yadav. Yadav urged the students to remember their parents’ support and sacrifices in shaping their future.
The meeting was also addressed by Rajesh Kumar Sarma, executive director, ONGC, Nazira, Uddiptajyoti Gogoi, adviser, and Samiran Phukan, assistant secretary, AASU central committee.
Addressing the students as the chief guest, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath said that the state government’s decision to introduce English as a medium early will benefit only 20 percent students and the rest will have to struggle hard to get through.
Dr Saumerjyoti Mahanta, principal, Sibsagar Commerce College, M Ganeshan, GM, HR, ONGC, Raifuddin Ahmed, and Parag Dutta also delivered their speech congratulating the students.
