ABSU observes 34th death anniversary of Bodofa UN Brahma

KOKRAJHAR, May 1: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) recalled contributions and dedication of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of the organisation on his 34th death anniversary at his burial place, Thulungapuri, Dotma in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.

As part of the programme, ABSU president Dipen Boro hoisted the students union flag at half mast while former ABSU president and present cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma and former general secretary of the ABSU and MLA of Kokrajhar East LAC, Lawrence Islary offered floral tributes at Bodofa’s statue.

The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro, Assam Assembly speaker, Biswajit Daimary and NDA alliance candidate for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, Joyanta Basumatary also paid homage to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.

On the other hand, a huge election campaign for the UPPL candidate supported by NDA, Joyanta Basumatary was held at the Dotma HS School playground on Wednesday which was attended by thousands of people.

Meanwhile, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the meeting in Dotma.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, “There was no lotus in Kokrajhar, but the tractor exists here. We must ensure that Narendra Modi becomes the next Prime Minister of the country for the third consecutive term. Thus, the countrymen will cast their vote in favour of NDA. We must realize casting vote in favour INDIA bloc is futile as it has no deserving candidate for the post of PM”.

He also said the plough kit (BPF’S symbol) has become useless and there is no valid meaning in support to them.

“BTC has witnessed peace and security after Pramod Boro becomes CEM of BTC as he has brought all the militants back home and restored the peaceful atmosphere in the region. Over 4,000 militants have returned home and with this the gun culture, killings and violence have come to an end. The time of seeking vote at gun point has also passed,” he said.

He also assured Orunodoi schemes to all families in Dotma. He also assured jobs to one lakh youths without and 50,000 more jobs this year. Interviews for the third and fourth grade posts will be conducted to provide jobs to another 50,000 youths would be taken by September and October. This will reduce the burden of 10 lakh unemployed youths in the state.

The chief minister also ensured financial assistance to youths who do not have government jobs to open business to earn their livelihood. Again, Rs. 10,000 would be distributed among women under the Lakhpati Baideo scheme, which would be increased to Rs. 25,000. The students will also be given monetary support and homeless under the PMAY houses.

CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro said, “The people in Bodoland region have chosen the NDA alliance and they have openly extended their support to the NDA alliance back candidate Joyanta Basumatary in the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.”

The meeting was also addressed by state ministers UG Brahma and Ashok Singhal.
