KOKRAJHAR, Oct 1: In a significant step, the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has installed the tallest flag in its history since its founding in 1967.
The flag of the All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) rose above 75 feet in the sky in Kokrajhar—the city of peace—on Monday to foster unity and solidarity during any crisis.
The student union’s flag, measuring 30 feet in length and 20 feet in breadth, flies atop a 75-foot iron pole at the premises of Bodofa Children’s Park situated on Jwhwlao Dwimalu (JD) Road in Kokrajhar town.
The president of ABSU, Dipen Boro, hoisted the large flag in the presence of vice president Kwrwmdao Wary and the principal of Kokrajhar Girls College, Dr Adaram Basumatary. This was followed by floral tributes at the statue of Bodofa UN Brahma by Dr Adaram Basumatary.
ABSU president Dipen Boro said the large flag of the ABSU will fly permanently in the sky as a symbol of peace, unity, and solidarity. He added that ABSU promises to work for the betterment of society and will stand united under the ABSU flag in times of crisis. He further stated that the Union will remain steadfast under the ABSU flag for the causes of the Bodo community.
He noted that the student union has been working tirelessly towards the welfare and upliftment of the Bodos and other downtrodden communities since its inception in the state.
