DIPHU, Oct 25: In a shocking incident in Karbi Anglong, the police arrested Munu Ali (20), a resident of Hidim Teron village, Manja, on charges of raping a minor girl. The horrendous crime took place on October 23 and has led to widespread outrage in the local community.

The incident came to light when the victim’s family filed a missing complaint with the Manja police after the minor failed to return home. Later, the young girl was discovered unconscious on the banks of the Manja River.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on the evening of October 23, the minor was returning home from a local Durga Puja celebration. It was during this journey that the accused, Munu Ali, along with an accomplice, allegedly assaulted and raped her.

The revelation of this heinous act sparked anger among local residents, who gathered at the Manja police station and briefly blocked NH-29, demanding the immediate handover of the accused. The agitated mob also resorted to demolishing the house where Munu Ali was staying. Subsequently, law enforcement officers managed to regain control of the situation, preventing further escalation.
