Assam: Inland Waterways Department suspends Guwahati ferry services for Oct 25

Guwahati, Oct 24: Guwahati-based ferry services have been suspended for October 25 (Wednesday). This was announced by the Inland Water Transport (IWT) Department on Tuesday.

The decision was taken due to the unavailability of sufficient draft to ply the vessels from the existing ghats at the South bank and to construct approach road and jetty.

“Due to unavailability of sufficient draft to ply the vessels from the existing ghat points at Guwahati side (South Bank) and to construct approach road and jetty, Guwahati based ferry services are temporarily suspended for tomorrow i.e 25.10.23,” the IWT notice read.
