Assam police detain MLA’s son and others in crackdown against drunken driving

Guwahati, Jan 6: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s crackdown on drunken driving in Assam has led to the detention of former Assam Minister and Behali MLA Ranjit Dutta’s son, Deepjyoti Dutta.

On Friday night, Assam police arrested Deepjyoti from the Jorabat locality on charges of drunken driving. Reports also suggest that the MLA’s son misbehaved with the police while under the influence of alcohol.

Along with Deepjyoti, Kumar Rishab Das and Jumon Bora were also apprehended. The police seized a Toyota Fortuner bearing the registration number AS 32A 3333 from the scene.
