Guwahati, April 29: Assam Under-16 opener Julien Konwar exhibited outstanding batting skills, scoring a splendid century to give the visiting team an edge against Bangladesh National Team Under-15 in their inaugural three-day match at Shaheed Kamaruzzaman Stadium, Rajshahi, Bangladesh on Monday.
Assam U16 managed to score an impressive 284, losing all wickets in 66 overs in their first innings, in response to Bangladesh U15 team’s score of 272. Julien’s notable innings of 122 runs off 121 balls, studded with 22 boundaries and a six, played a crucial role in Assam’s pursuit for the first-innings lead.
At the end of play on the second day, the home team was at 25/1 in 11 overs. Earlier, the home team had resumed their innings at 256/8 and was eventually dismissed for 272 in 95.5 overs, with Sourav Karmakar (84) and Shimanto Roy Rinku (62) making substantial contributions.
