DIBRUGARH, Jan 8: The Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), on its 18th Foundation Day, distributed sports equipment to local schools and smart assistive devices to visually impaired individuals as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The event, held at BCPL Township in Barbaruah, was attended by senior officials from BCPL and the district administration, including Prithviraj Dass, director of finance, BCPL; Rima Trishna Saloi, assistant commissioner, Dibrugarh; Samiran Bora, inspector of schools, Dibrugarh; and Sitangshu Paul, general manager (HR), BCPL.
BCPL provided sports items such as footballs, volleyballs, cricket kits, carrom boards, chess sets, and badminton kits to schools including Barbaruah Girls High School, Rameswar Higher Secondary School, Dibrugarh District Karate Do Association, Dibrugarh University Sports Board, Borpather High School, Sessa Tinali Moidamoni High School, Government Girls Higher Secondary & Multi-Purpose School, and Dibrugarh Government Boys HS School.
Visually impaired individuals received smart assistive devices and cane sticks to enhance their mobility and daily lives.
Speaking at the event, BCPL managing director Pranjal Changmai said, “Our CSR initiatives reflect our commitment to uplifting the communities where we operate. By providing sports equipment to schools, we aim to promote teamwork and active participation among students. The assistive devices will support visually impaired individuals in leading more independent lives.”
In addition to this, BCPL has undertaken several significant CSR projects, including constructing Barbaruah Market, upgrading Barbaruah PHC and AMCH infrastructure, providing hearse vans and garbage carrier vehicles, supporting skill development programs, funding a research project at AMCH, and promoting sports through upgrades to Chowkidinghee Field, Jalannagar Stadium, and an indoor sports stadium.
The company also provided solar lighting to rural areas, mid-day meals under the Akshay Patra Scheme, and assistance to SHGs in sericulture, handloom, and textiles, among other initiatives. These efforts demonstrate BCPL’s commitment to sustainable development and community welfare.
