NAGAON, Oct 19: The recently concluded Delphic Cultural Summit in Kolkata witnessed a mesmerizing Bihu performance by Dr Prasanna Gogoi and Somnath Bora Oja that left the participants spellbound. Somnath Bora Oja showcased his skill with six Dhols, with support from Swapna Anjan Bora, while Dr Prasanna Gogoi played the buffalo horn. Both performers have been honored with medals in Delphic Games, and their performance was met with admiration and awe.
During the event, discussions took place with various foreign delegates regarding the possibility of taking Bihu performances to international stages, further promoting the rich cultural heritage of Assam.
The Delphic Cultural Summit was organized by the Bengal Delphic Council in collaboration with the National Delphic Council of India and received support from prestigious organizations like UNESCO, the British Council, and the Delphic Council of Nepal. The event saw the participation of 45 delegates from different countries alongside Indian delegates representing various states.
The Delphic Council of North East played a significant role in this cultural summit held from October 12 to 14. Participants from the council included Swapnanil Barua, Dr Sanjib Kr Borkakoti, Dr Prasanna Gogoi, Somnath Bora Oja, Brigadier Sanjeev Chopra, Asomee Dutta Barua, Ranjan Bezbarua, Khyo Ngulli, Mrinmoyee Goswami, Gumjum Haider, Krishnanjan Chanda, and Swapna Anjan Bora.
Brigadier Sanjeev Chopra entertained the audience with anecdotes and stories. Delphic Cultural of North East also honored the delegates by presenting them with Assamese Gamochas, which received high appreciation. The ceremony was conducted by Swapnanil Barua, President of Delphic Cultural of North East.
