Demow Press Club felicitates meritorious students in annual program

DEMOW, June 26:
 The Demow Press Club continued its tradition of felicitating meritorious students who excelled in the HSLC and HS Final Examination 2023. The felicitation program took place at the Demow Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Building on Sunday. The event commenced with a soulful Borgeet performance by Geetashree Kalita, a renowned singer. Umesh Chetia, the president of Demow Press Club, presided over the program, while Ajay Kumar Gogoi, the chief adviser of the club, delivered the welcome speech. Prastuti Dutta, an assistant faculty of the English department at Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, Guwahati, served as the anchor for the felicitation program.

Aditya Vikram Yadav, the deputy commissioner of Sivasagar district, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The members of Demow Press Club felicitated Aditya Vikram Yadav with traditional Assamese items such as a gamosa, cheleng sadar, and a japi.

In his speech, Aditya Vikram Yadav accentuated the value of hard work and encouraged parents to motivate their children. He stressed the importance of discipline in daily life and advised students that their dedication and efforts in the next ten years would determine their overall success.
As a tribute to Late Gajen Chandra Gogoi and Late Numali Gogoi, Ajay Kumar Gogoi, the chief adviser of Demow Press Club, presented a cash prize of Rs 5000 each to Trijyotshna Saikia of Demow Senior Secondary School (Demow Junior College), who secured 95.07 percentage in the HSLC Examination 2023, and Akash Deep Borgohain of Demow Science Academy, who secured 91.8 percentage in the HS Final Examination 2023.

In memory of Late Muhan Chandra Dowari, a teacher, his son Shekhar Jyoti Dowari awarded a cash prize of Rs 3000 to Junali Das, a student of Saragua High School belonging to an economically disadvantaged family.

During the program, Manash Pratim Kotoky and Kaushik Chetia, NDA students from Demow, delivered valuable speeches and were felicitated by Demow Press Club members with a gamosa and a book.

The meritorious students were felicitated with a book, a certificate, and a sapling. The event was attended by Bakul Dutta, principal of Demow Higher Secondary School, Niva Deori, principal of Hem Chandra Borgohain Model English High School, Dr Pranjal Bezbarua, president of the Administrative Body of Demow Science Academy, members of Demow Press Club, along with other dignitaries.
