SIVASAGAR, Dec 1: A total of 1482 students in Sivasagar district were honoured with the Dr Banikanta Kakaty Award in a ceremony held at Janjhi HNS College on Thursday. The award ceremony aimed to inspire students and foster a sense of serious competition among them. Atul Bora, the agriculture minister of Assam, addressed the awardees and emphasised the government’s commitment to recognising and encouraging academic excellence.
Aditya Vikram Yadav, the district commissioner, highlighted the significance of the awards in motivating students to achieve academic distinction, adding that the nation and the state look forward to these meritorious students making valuable contributions.
Pradip Hazarika, MLA of the constituency, took the opportunity to recall the contributions of great personalities from the constituency and their service to society. Additionally, six individuals, including Kashyap Gogoi of Ved Academy, Nazira, were awarded scooters for their outstanding performance in the 2023 HSSLC examinations.
The event was attended by Subhrajyoti Bora, SP, Sivasagar, Devajyoti Gogoi, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar Circle, the principal, teachers of HCS College, and the guardians, making it a memorable occasion for the students and the community.
