Drug mafia arrested with suspected heroin

NAGAON, Sept 11: Railway security personnel, in a joint raid between the Lumding Railway Security Force and Lumding Government Railway Police (GRP), apprehended Shankar Dutta, a notorious drug mafia, near Lumding railway station on the Vivek Express last night. During the operation, law enforcement officers also confiscated approximately 430 grams of a suspected narcotics substance believed to be heroin from the possession of the arrested drug mafia.

Sources have estimated that the market value of the recovered narcotics substance is more than Rs 80 lakh.

In addition to the drug mafia, railway security personnel detained eight individuals suspected of being involved in thefts targeting passengers on various moving trains. These detainees are alleged to have stolen cash and personal belongings from passengers. Cash, nine mobile handsets, and other stolen items were reportedly recovered from their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dilwar Hussain, Ashad Ali, Masuk Hussain, Newton Das, Murshid Ali, Bipul Das, and Anowar Hussain. They hail from Nagaon and Dimapur, according to sources.
