NAGAON, June 8: Dulal Bora, a prominent social worker and founder of Akoni Sahitya Sabha, was arrested by Samaguri police in the early hours of Saturday for posting a controversial remark on social media regarding Lord Krishna’s marriage to Rukmini.
According to sources, the post, which surfaced on various platforms, triggered widespread outrage and condemnation from multiple quarters, prompting police to take swift action. A suo moto case was registered, and Bora was arrested from his residence near Garmur Masjid around 2 am.
The Manav Adhikar Sangram Samitee (MASS) strongly condemned the post and called for appropriate legal action against Bora. The organization labeled the content as inflammatory and hurtful to religious sentiments.
Bora’s arrest has since ignited a debate over the boundaries of freedom of speech, particularly in the context of religious sensitivities. Known for his contributions to cultural and literary activities—especially his involvement in organizing the Puranigudam Sharadiya Shishu Granthamela—Bora’s controversial post has come as a shock to many who admired his work.
