HAFLONG, Feb 23: The department of women and child development Assam, in collaboration with SCERT, Assam, inaugurated a 6(six) months certificate course on ECCE for Anganwadi Workers (10+2) and above in Dima Hasao at Keshav Smarak Nyas in Haflong on Sunday.

The programme was attended by executive member, NCHAC, Donpainon Thaosen as chief guest in the presence of Rowelson Rongpi, Addl director, education, Kunjalata Lachon, Dy director, WCD, other dignitaries, and Anganwadi workers.

The programme aims to provide comprehensive training to Anganwadi workers, equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge required for fostering the holistic development of children under six years of age.

Emphasising the importance of early childhood education in shaping the future of young minds, executive member NCHAC Donpainon Thaosen encouraged participants to seize the opportunity.

He expressed that whatever they learn in the training should be applied to benefit the children. Speaking in the inaugural session, deputy director, Kunjalata Lachon, stressed the importance of early childhood education in laying the foundation for lifelong learning and nation-building. She highlighted that well-trained Anganwadi workers play a crucial role in the development of young children, helping them grow into responsible and capable citizens.

“If the Anganwadi worker is very good, then the whole Anganwadi centre environment will be child-friendly and vibrant,” she added.
