GUWAHATI, July 20: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria conducted a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials from the transformation and development department at Raj Bhavan’s conference hall on Thursday. As part of a series of meetings with different departments, the Governor aimed to assess the activities and progress of various schemes.
The meeting showcased Assam’s notable GDP growth rate for the year 2022-23, with a specific focus on growth in different sectors, including agriculture, industry, and services. Key areas such as taxes on products, subsidies, gross state domestic products, and per capita income were also analyzed.
One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP), and the Governor reviewed the progress of each district under this program. Additionally, the role of the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) was addressed, along with the evaluation and monitoring methods for the implementation of government schemes across the state.
The Governor inquired about the role and functioning of the SDG Cell, established by the Department of Transformation and Development, to monitor the current status of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the state and set targets for 2030.
During the meeting, the Governor stressed the importance of effective monitoring of fund utilisation to ensure the successful implementation of schemes. He emphasised that diligent monitoring is crucial in ensuring that the benefits of the schemes reach the general public. The officials were instructed to prioritise proper monitoring to achieve successful outcomes.
The meeting was attended by principal secretary of T&D department, Dr M Ariz Ahammad, chief executive officer of SITA, MS Manivannam, secretary to the Governor, Swapna Dutta Deka, and other senior officials from T&D department and Raj Bhavan.
