As per the statement, the award will be conferred on Sadulla on April 19 during Bohagi Utsav celebrations.

“The announcement came on the occasion of the people’s artiste Moghai Oja’s 45th death anniversary,”the statement quoted   Kalakhetra’s president Ratul Chandra Bora and chief secretary Nilomoni Bora as saying.

Both the president and the chief secretary said that the Akashvani Dibrugarh Centre in 1977 conducted an interview of the people’s artiste and recorded a musical rendition through which the memories of the artiste have been made eternal.

In 1977, Sadulla was serving as the Programme Director at the Dibrugarh Centre of Akashvani. In the later years, he recorded songs and composed essays on Oja’s life, thereby immortalising his works.
