GUWAHATI, Sept 1: Serving as a vital gateway to North East India, Guwahati International Airport, with its extensive network of twenty-four domestic and two international destinations, welcomed an impressive 4.8 lakh passengers in August 2023. This figure reflects a substantial increase compared to the same month last year.
The top four national destinations from Guwahati include Imphal, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore, while the international routes connect to Singapore and Paro.
The airport witnessed a total of 3,839 flight movements in August 2023, representing a 14% growth compared to August 2022. This surge can be attributed to the airport’s passenger-centric approach.
Interestingly, in July 2023, Guwahati Airport set a record by accommodating nearly 5 lakh passengers, indicating a resurgence in air travel following the pandemic-induced lull.
Anticipating continued growth, Guwahati Airport is optimistic about the upcoming winter schedule, which kicks off in October. The winter season typically witnesses a significant uptick in passenger numbers, and LGBIA (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport) is poised for a strong surge during this period.
