Health minister Keshab Mahanta joins ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’

MORIGAON, Dec 21: Keshab Mahanta, the minister of Health and Family Welfare, Information Technology, and more, actively participated in the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ program organised by the Morigaon Municipal Board. During the inauguration of the program, the minister elucidated its objective, emphasising the need to raise awareness about the central government’s initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government’s efforts under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. The primary goal of the program is to inform the public about these schemes, ensuring that citizens receive their benefits directly without any intermediaries. Minister Mahanta stressed that the government aims to eliminate middlemen interference in governmental schemes, ensuring that citizens do not face deprivation.

He underscored the symbiotic relationship between the development of individuals and the overall progress of the country. The minister addressed various topics, including road safety, and highlighted prominent schemes such as Jal Jeevan Abhiyan, Orunodoi Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Moreover, he drew attention to the health insurance facility provided under the Ayushman Card, offering coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per annum.

MLA Ramakanta Deuri from Morigaon also attended the event, and stated the concerted efforts of both state and central governments to implement numerous welfare schemes for the benefit of the underprivileged. District commissioner Devashish Sharma extended a warm welcome to the gathering, which included beneficiaries of various schemes. As part of the program, the Department of Agriculture organised a demonstration showcasing the use of drone technology for nano urea. The event saw the presence of chief executive officer of the Zilla Parishad Lakhi Nandan Soharia, district development commissioner Devayani Chowdhury, Morigaon Municipality’s chairman Jogesh Tamuly, BJP’s president Prabin Medhi, along with various dignitaries, officers, employees, and beneficiaries of different schemes.
