Health services review meeting held

SIVASAGAR, Feb 21: A review meeting of the health services was convened at Sivasagar Civil Hospital on February 19, presided over by Geetali Duwora, additional commissioner (Health), Sivasagar. Dr Bhupendra Kumar Das, joint director of Health & Family Welfare, spoke on the objectives of the meeting. The concerned officials presented the annual report on maternal and infant deaths and discussed strategies to reduce these numbers. Relatives of those who died during childbirth also attended the meeting.

The additional commissioner discussed methods to prevent low-weight births and emphasised the importance of proper health checks during prenatal and postnatal stages with the assistance of ANMs. She also emphasised the importance of balanced diets during pregnancy. Sub-divisional medical officer Dr Souvik Bhattacharjya was directed to enhance health awareness among tea garden areas in Geleki.

Health officials instructed birth and death certificate managers (BCMs) to submit records of deaths in proper forms (MCP cards) at the next review meetings. They also instructed concerned officials to closely monitor every mother with a high-risk pregnancy.

Nodal officers of all national health missions and projects presented their reports at the meeting. The additional director informed the meeting that issues related to ambulance service and 108 services would be addressed with the district transport officer (DTO). They directed officials to conduct sick cell anemia examinations at the Urban Health Centre and urged everyone to achieve targets set by higher authorities. Dr Rajiv Panging was tasked with arranging training in mental health services for block officers and BCMs.

The meeting was attended by health officers from Demow Model Hospital, the superintendent of Sivasagar Civil Hospital, district immunisation officer, sub-divisional health officers, representatives from Primary Health Centres, ANMs, ASHA workers, DPMQs, and senior health officers.
