GUWAHATI, Aug 7: In a significant operation, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Assam Police successfully seized a substantial cache of explosives in Cachar district, Assam. The recovery included 200 gelatin sticks and 200 detonators, all of which were found at the Ranighat market in the district. The timely intervention and seizure of such a huge quantity of explosives have raised concerns over potential violence and security threats in the region.
Officials have speculated that the explosives were likely intended to be transported to Manipur, where ongoing ethnic clashes have resulted in the tragic loss of more than 160 lives during the past three months. This discovery has heightened vigilance as authorities work to prevent any further escalation of violence in Manipur.
The joint security team remains committed to investigating the matter thoroughly and apprehending those responsible for transporting the explosives. The operation aims to neutralize any potential threats posed by these explosives and to safeguard public safety in both Assam and Manipur.
This development comes as a significant step towards curbing illegal activities and maintaining regional security. The authorities continue to be vigilant in their efforts to address any potential risks and maintain peace in the affected areas.
