GUWAHATI, July 19 (PTI): IIT Guwahati and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) have entered into a significant partnership with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the skill development of students in the field of international affairs and foreign policy.
The MoU was signed by professor Parameswar K Iyer, the officiating director of IIT Guwahati, and Vijay Thakur Singh, the director-general of ICWA.
Professor Iyer emphasised the importance of collaborative interventions in today’s interconnected world and stressed that the collaboration between IIT Guwahati and ICWA would contribute to addressing global challenges and promoting the shared vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.
The partnership seeks to create awareness about world affairs and Indian foreign policy among IIT Guwahati’s partners, including universities, academic institutions, and industries in Assam. By fostering cooperation and exchange of knowledge, the collaboration aims to equip students with valuable skills in navigating the complexities of international relations.
The MoU is valid for a period of three years, during which both institutions will work together to develop programs, organise seminars and workshops, and facilitate research activities in the field of international affairs. This collaboration marks an important step towards strengthening the understanding of global issues and promoting a comprehensive approach to foreign policy.
The signing of the MoU followed the visit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is also the president of ICWA, to IIT Guwahati earlier this month for its 25th convocation. This visit further emphasised the significance of the partnership and the commitment of both organisations to enhancing the educational experience and career prospects of students in the field of international affairs.
