DIPHU, May 7: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has officially announced the discontinuation of Business Registration Certificates (BRCs) issued by Town Committees and Municipal Boards. The decision comes in light of Resolution No. 10 passed during the 17th Executive Committee meeting (13th KAAC) held on March 17, 2025.
Effective immediately, the Trading License issued by the Department of Taxation, KAAC, will become the sole required document for conducting business within the council’s jurisdiction. Municipal Boards and Town Committees will now issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to support applications for the KAAC Trading License, replacing the previously issued BRCs.
The NOC will be mandatory for both Non-Tribal and Tribal applicants in the region. Existing BRCs for the year 2025-26 are required to be converted into NOCs for the KAAC Trading License, following the format outlined in Annexure-A.
Businesses are requested to submit the converted NOCs to the Superintendent of Taxes, Department of Taxation, KAAC without delay.
