KAAC EM inaugurates eco-friendly education stall ahead of 50th Karbi Youth Festival

DIPHU, Jan 11: Executive Member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for Education, Richard Tokbi inaugurated the extended and renovated exhibition stall of the Education Department, KAAC at Departmental Stalls exhibition complex at Taralangso this morning.

The exhibition stall was inaugurated on the eve of the 50th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) to begin from January 12 to 19 in Taralangso, Diphu.

At the entrance stands a tree roots-like structure designed by interlacing bamboo twine. He emphasised an eco-friendly festival by keeping away from polythene and plastic during the 8-day festival.

The EM who is also the General Secretary of the Reception Committee (RC) for the KYF Golden Jubilee celebration said, “We are trying to make eco-friend during this festival by avoiding the use of polythene and plastic. We have visited the market complex and have asked those putting up eateries and restaurants to use cups and plates which are eco-friendly and avoid using plastic cups and plates.”

Later, in a press conference convened at KCS, central committee office, the KCS president, Kro said 95 per cent of preparation is complete and only 5 per cent remains.

“There will be cultural troupes from 35 KCS Zones. KCS Zones from Kamrup, Morigaon, Malidor, Biswanath Chari-ali, Sonapur, Kamrup, Nagaon and Hojai will participate,” he added.

EM, KAAC, Ritesh Enghi informed that special guests from countries like Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Ghana, Myanmar, Maldives and Ethiopia will be coming.

There are also a good number of international students from different countries who have confirmed their participation, Enghi said.
