MBBS student from Dibrugarh dies by suicide at AIIMS-Bhubaneshwar

DIBRUGARH, Dec 26:  A 21-year-old MBBS student from Dibrugarh allegedly died by suicide at All India Institute for Medical Science (AIIMS) in Bhubaneshwar.

As per reports, Mishra was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his hostel room on Wednesday. Prior to taking this tragic step, he reportedly sent an audio message to his younger brother, asking his father not to sell their land.

In the audio message, he also urged his brother to become a doctor and stay in Assam.

Meanwhile, a note recovered from his room stated that no one was responsible for his death. 

Mishra had returned to the AIIMS-Bhubaneswar campus on Tuesday after a 10-day vacation at home along with his father Baidyanath Mishra.

He was scheduled to appear for his second-year examinations starting Thursday.

Describing him as a bright and promising student, a neighbour said, “Ratnesh was doing well in his studies. The news of his death has left the entire family shattered. We are deeply disturbed by this tragedy.”  

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar police have launched an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances behind his death.

Later, his was body was brought to his hometown on Thursday and the cremation took place the same evening.
