Abhimanyu, who resided at 1 Lazum, Ward No 4, near the old playground of Ramkrishna Vidyapith School, was reported missing on the morning of the eighth day of Durga Puja. His body was later recovered from the banks of the Buridehing river on October 14.

The tragic incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are calling for a comprehensive investigation. Initial reports indicated a frantic search for the missing child, but the investigation soon took a grim turn, revealing that the boy’s mother may have played a role in his death.

“How can a biological mother be so cruel? What kind of brutality drives a mother to kill her own child?” questioned a local resident.

On October 11, a missing person’s complaint was lodged at the Margherita Police Station. Shocking revelations during the investigation led to the arrest of Supriya Chakraborty after extensive questioning on Friday, with authorities citing substantial evidence linking her to the crime.
