MARGHERITA, Dec 1: National Book Fair kicked off on Sunday at the Digboi Muliabari Playground under Margherita co-district. It has been organised by the voluntary organisation Prayas in collaboration with the All Assam Booksellers Association and Publishers Association.
The book fair, being held at the Digboi Muliabari playground, features numerous stalls from various institutions across Assam.
The eight-day event will conclude on December 8, featuring various programs such as poetry recitation, competitions, cultural events, award ceremonies, book releases, and discussion sessions.
On Sunday, the first day of the program began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Sanjay Kisan, cabinet minister of Assam. This was followed by an art and drawing competition among school students. An interactive session among journalists from the Margherita and Digboi regions was also held, moderated by Rana Jyoti Neog, general secretary of the Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association.
The interactive session featured journalists sharing their experiences, performing Bhaona dialogues, reciting poetry, and singing. Renowned singer Rupam Kashyap also performed during this session.
