PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya celebrates Earth Day in Lokra

TEZPUR, April 24: The PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya has organised various programmes at its school premises to celebrate the ‘World Earth Day’.

While the students of the school’s primary level displayed very beautiful posters on the subject of environmental protection, the little ones staged a play to highlight several issues related to environmental protection during the programme held on April 22.

Following the programme, Master Ayush of standard VII of the school delivered a speech. Senior chemistry teacher of the school, Ravinder Singh and science teacher Asha Kachchhwaha gave gave lectures on the topic.

Meanwhile, the Principal of the school expressed his views regarding the conservation of our planet and its resources.  He asked all students to plant at least one tree on their birthdays in the school premises or around their houses and take care of them. He also asked them to use plastic items sparingly and carry their food in steel utensils and use steel water bottles. This, he said, will ensure that everyone remains together with keeping the environment clean.

A plantation drive was also held inside the school premises as part of the ‘World Earth Day’ celebrations. In the last two periods, a painting competition for classes VI to VIII was conducted under the guidance of the school’s art teacher Ajay Singh. An essay writing competition was also on the topic ‘Biodiversity’ in which all the students of classes IX to XII participated enthusiastically. The programme concluded with an oath taken by the Principal of the school, teachers and students to protect the earth.
