GUWAHATI, April 21: In a significant development concerning the conduct of the Panchayat Election 2025, the Office of the Additional District Commissioner in charge of the Postal Ballot Paper Cell informs all concerned that the schedule for casting votes through Postal Ballot Paper has been revised. Applicants who had earlier applied to exercise their franchise via Postal Ballot Paper and were slated to vote on April 22 and 23 as per earlier office order received on April 14, are hereby notified that the said schedule has now been deferred.
The revised dates for casting votes through Postal Ballot Paper are now April 24 and 25. This rescheduling has been undertaken to streamline and ensure a more effective and orderly process for the facilitation of postal voting during the ongoing Panchayat Election. All applicants are requested to take note of the revised dates and act accordingly.
The administration is committed to conducting the electoral process in a fair, transparent, and efficient manner, and solicits the cooperation of all concerned in adhering to the updated schedule.
Earlier, the election observers Indrani Laskar, and Md Hanif Noorani had conducted an official visit to the Postal Ballot Cell located at the Office of the Circle Officer, Silchar Sadar Circle, at Sadarghat Road, Silchar. The visit was aimed at meticulously supervising the ongoing operations of the postal ballot process, a crucial mechanism for facilitating voter participation among eligible government officials and other authorized electors who may not be able to vote in person.
The observers reviewed the administrative arrangements and assessed the overall preparedness of the postal ballot system to ensure transparency, accuracy, and efficiency. Their presence underscored the Election Commission’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, and impartial electoral process across the district.
Accompanying the Election Observers during the inspection were Kimchin Lhangum,Additional District Commissioner, Cachar; Masi Topno, Election Officer, Cachar; and Anjali Kumari, Assistant Commissioner, Cachar. These senior officers provided comprehensive briefings on the status of the postal ballot operations and reiterated the district administration’s dedication to upholding the sanctity of the electoral process.
The visit stands as a testament to the vigilance and collaborative efforts of the election machinery in Cachar District, aimed at reinforcing public confidence and ensuring that every eligible vote counts in the Panchayat Election.
