NAGAON, May 19: The Pub Nagaon Rongali Bihu Utsav Udjapan Somitee honoured over 60 meritorious students from Amulapatty Ward no 8 for their outstanding performance in the HS final and HSLC examinations of 2024. The felicitation ceremony took place at the Nagaon Ratna Kanta Borkakoti High School.
Simanta Bora, president of the Pub Nagaon Rongali Bihu Utsav Udjapan Somitee and vice president of the Nagaon Municipality Board, presided over the event. Local MLA Rupak Sarma and retired academician Nava Kr Mahanta graced the occasion as chief guests and guests of honour, respectively.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Rupak Sarma encouraged the students to prioritise reading books, emphasising that it is the primary duty of a student. He highlighted the unique knowledge that can only be gained through reading physical books as opposed to digital mediums like computers or mobile devices. Retired professor Nava Kr Mahanta also addressed the students, stressing the importance of enriching their knowledge beyond the marks recorded in their academic transcripts.
Trishna Bora, headmistress of Ratna Kanta Borkakoti High School, Pankaj Bhuyan, executive officer of the Nagaon Municipality Board, along with other teachers and guardians, were present at the felicitation program. They also underscored the significance of reading books, as mentioned in a press note issued here.
