GUWAHATI, Sept 6: A tragic road accident in Assam’s Tinsukia district has left seven individuals dead and a dozen more severely injured. The accident occurred on Tuesday evening near Bordirak Tiniali, close to Kakopathar, when their vehicle collided head-on with a speeding truck, according to the police.
Preliminary reports suggest that the passengers were returning from Doomdooma’s weekly market when their vehicle collided with the mini goods truck. The injured victims have been promptly admitted to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the truck was in an inebriated state at the time of the accident, contributing to the tragic collision. The vehicles involved in the accident bear the registration numbers AS23-CC 8930 and AR 20A1093.
In response to this devastating incident, Tinsukia district commissioner Swapnil Pal has announced a magisterial inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. (With inputs from PTI)
