TEZPUR, March 21: The Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur was held on Tuesday at the DC office here.
The event was held under the aegis of Dr. Prasanna Kumar Pathak, director of extension education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Sonitpur DC, Deba Kumar Mishra addressing the occasion pointed out certain points to KVK, Sonitpur to deal with the sector adequately including fishery and other horticulture sector for the better livelihood of farmers of the district. In his speech he also appreciated the department for the area expansion of litchi and publications published related to litchi and advised Sonitpur KVK to work in convergence mode.
Utpal Borah, DDC, Sonitpur in his address advised KVK, Sonitpur to work on millets since this year is declared as International Year of Millets. Dr. Ranen Barman, associate Dean of college of Agriculture, BNCA, Dr. Arifa Momtaz Begum, junior extension specialist, AAU, Jorhat and Pankaj Saikia, DAO, Sonitpur also expressed their views for upliftment of the farmers.
Among others the event was also attended by DVO, Soitpur, Dr BK Barman, DDM, NABARD, PK Nath, FMTTI representative and gave their suggestions.
Officials from line departments like DICC, DFDO, ASRLM, AIR, DAO, NERIWALM, agriculture irrigation, executive engineer (Agri), officials from NGOs, BODs and members of FPCs, progressive farmers and farm women, entrepreneurs were present and shared their views.
