June 19, Wednesday: In an exceedingly tragic sequence of events, Shiladitya Chetia, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer serving as the secretary of the home and political department in the Assam government, died by suicide on Tuesday. This heart-breaking incident took place mere minutes after he learned about the passing of his wife, who had been battling cancer for an extended period.
Shiladitya Chetia, an esteemed officer of the 2009 IPS batch, made the irrevocable decision to take his own life following the devastating news of his wife’s death.
