Sensitisation Programme On Combating Child Trafficking Held In Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, Aug 4: A one-day district level sensitisation programme in 75 border districts Add Newof India on combating child trafficking to commemorate World Day Against Trafficking in Person was organised at the conference hall of the DC office in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.
Nearly fifty participants from different stakeholders, officials from district administration, police officials, members from district child protection unit, members from children related organisations like Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Kokrajhar; Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Kokrajhar; NGO members from Nedan Foundation participated in the meeting.
The meeting was organised by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in association with State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) and district administration, Kokrajhar.
The meeting discussed thoroughly over the issues of child protection and child trafficking which is a burning issue of the society in today’s juncture.
According to source, the, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), ministry of Home Affairs stated that a total of 1,714 cases of human trafficking were registered in India in 2020.
As many as 4709 victims have been reported to be trafficked, of which 2,222 were children and 2,487 were adults.
4680 victims have been rescued from clutches of the traffickers and 4966 persons were arrested in 1714 cases of trafficking.
A total of 323170 persons were reported missing in India in 2020, out of which, a total of 59262 children (13566 male, 45687 female & 9 transgender) were reported missing in 2020 itself.
