TEZPUR, April 21: Tezpur University has secured a significant grant under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). Under the ANRF, the University has bagged Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) grant.
The ANRF has been established by the Government of India to cultivate a vibrant research and innovation ecosystem across the nation’s universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D laboratories. The PAIR grant specifically aims to bolster the research capabilities of promising institutions through a Hub and Spoke model.
In the inaugural phase of the PAIR program, 3 central universities and 3 state universities have been paired. Tezpur Central University along with the Central University of Punjab has been selected as a “Spoke” institution. Jawaharlal Nehru University has been selected as the Hub institute. Other institutions in this initial cohort include state universities – Berhampur University, Cotton University, and Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University.
Tezpur University’s successful proposal showcased cutting-edge research initiatives spanning various disciplines within Science and Engineering, focused on three thematic research areas – Advanced materials, Molecular and synthetic biology and Environmental sustainability. The development of this comprehensive proposal involved a collaborative effort across 14 Departments of the University, with the active participation of 58 faculty members, signifying great synergy and commitment of the team. The compelling presentation, highlighting the university’s research vision and capabilities, was led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Shambhu Nath Singh, and the IPR Chair Professor and lead Professor of the team Dr. Pritam Deb, at the Indian Academy of Sciences in Bangalore, in front of the Chairman of the committee, K. Radhakrishnan, Former chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organisation.
As a recipient of the ANRF-PAIR grant, Tezpur University will receive a substantial research funding. This significant investment will empower the university to further strengthen its research infrastructure, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and drive impactful innovations in strategically important scientific and engineering domains.
Professor Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, expressed his elation, stating, “This prestigious ANRF-PAIR grant is a testament to the collective research strength and dedication of our faculty and researchers. This funding will be instrumental in propelling our university to new heights of research excellence and contributing meaningfully to the nation’s scientific progress.” It is worth mentioning that Tezpur University recently bagged the prestigious PURSE proposal as well.
